With the Green Planet, you can also take over the terraforming in Surviving Mars yourself and watch how the red planet slowly turns into a new green world.

The Green Planet DLC does not add any game-relevant mechanics to the Surviving Mars game mechanics, but only a nice addition. And this only really takes effect once the Surviving component of the game has long been overcome and you can brain-afk build anything you want.

At first, only single green patches appear around your forest factories. As time goes by, they grow larger and grow together. Then bushes and trees are added, which idyllically frame your later blue lakes.
The hostile environment outside the domes with their industrial tanks and pipes becomes a green paradise. You can watch nature grow!

And not only on the ground but also in the planetary view. There you will first notice thin green bands in the deep valleys of Mars, which slowly spread out, lakes and seas are formed.

How fast Mars turns green depends mainly on the temperature and the available water on Mars. Both are sensitive values for plants.

If water and temperature are still at 0%, then nothing can grow on Mars except simple lichens, and that's pretty boring. So if you want to get your Mars green quickly, you should build some greenhouse gas factories as soon as possible. They will then slowly raise the temperature without your intervention.

Green Planet is for the visuals, and most importantly, it takes a long time to make Mars a greener place. That means you'll spend quite a bit of time in a single game, which is also no longer challenging at some point. It's all about building beautifully without a lack of resources.

For those who like to build nicely and clutter up the map with new stuff, Green Planet is an asset because the environment and feel of the game change visibly.
